JUNE 25-30 JACOB, ISAIAH, JENNIFER & ANDY ARE WITH US

Wednesday  June 25th - We awoke to the sweet sound of little voices. We had breakfast then took the boys to the playground before packing up to move to our next campsite  54 miles away at Branch Brook in Campton, NH. We were disappointed the pool was closed for repairs but delighted to find an elaborate bouncy house/water feature the boys thoroughly enjoyed. The adults were even allowed to join in on the fun. We explored the camp store, recreation hall (played Candy Bar BINGO), and ended the day playing in the river close to our camp site. We loved our site close to the river amid tall pine trees. We enjoyed an evening of good food, playing boys, fun conversation and generally treasured family time.

BRACH BROOK ARM PAINTING ACTIVITY

BRANCH BROOK ARM PAINTING ACTIVITY

Thursday  June 26th - Gorgeous, sunny day. We loved the sound of the boys’ precious voices again in the morning. It was the best alarm clock. We planned a trip to a local amusement park; Story Land. One of it’s main characters is Daniel Tiger who Jacob loves. He was so excited about meeting him so we took advantage of the extra meeting opportunity of the character breakfast. After Jacob’s photo op he said in a confidential voice “that’s really a person inside a Daniel Tiger suit”. I guess we couldn’t fool this 3 year old. The park was so much fun. We left when the park closed, stopped for fast food on the way back to Yogi, and all fell fast asleep as soon as we got to bed. Another great day and the perfect to spend our wedding anniversary; with family.

Friday  June 27th - It was another beautiful day so we decided we would go on a hike. We went to see Flume Gorge. It’s glacial boulders, rocky waterways, covered bridge, vegetation, waterfalls and of course dramatic gorge were gorgeous. Jacob and Andy even crawled through a rocky passage called “Wolf Den” after we assured Jacob there really were not wolves inside. We cooked over the campfire in the evening and made smores per Jacob’s request. It was a great evening to sit outside by the fire.

Saturday  June 28th - It was a cloudy, drizzly morning with chances of rain throughout the day so we planned a visit to Squam Lakes Natural Science Center that had indoor and outdoor exhibits. We were fortunate to have minimal rain. Squam Lakes was amazing. We all really enjoyed the interactive exhibits and animals that were perfect for the boys. All of the animals at the center were rescued when injured, but could not be returned to the wild due to their injuries. When we returned to our campground we enjoyed several of their fun activities to include more Candy Bar BINGO, Scavenger Hunt, and a Fire Truck ride. Jacob enjoyed all of it so of course we did too just seeing his sweet face. We went back down to the river for more play time before another campsite dinner. We all went to bed tired but happy after another fun day.

Sunday  June 29th - Perfect sunny, blue sky day. After breakfast we took a hike at our campground that took us through a beautiful birch tree forest. We packed up after our hike and moved 62 miles to Beach Campground in Conway, NH. We stopped for supplies on the way before setting up camp. Jacob was so excited when a huge group of boy scouts set up camp beside us and one of them threw a football to him. We took Jacob to Ryan’s Arcade to play while Isaiah napped then enjoyed dinner and family time before bedtime.

Monday  June 30th - More sun and blue skies. Perfect day to be outside and go explore areas in the White Mountain National Forest. Our first stop was on top of a mountain to see Cathedral Ledge. We overlooked a shear cliff into the valley below where we could see Echo Lake. Later we stopped at Echo Lake and saw majestic Cathedral Ledge from the valley below and the crystal clear popular swimming lake bordered by sandy beach and pine tree forest with picnic areas. It was also fun to see the rock climbers scaling the cliff. We stopped at Diana’s Bath where we all put on our water shoes to wade and play in the multiple water-falls and pools. However, the boys got more than just their feet wet! So fun!! Next, we went back to our campground and walked to their beach. It was rocky but we found a great shady area where the boys enjoyed throwing rocks and wading. We had another meal at our campsite along with a surprise candy dessert from Michael had purchased Bavarian Chocolates. We turned in for the evening, tired but happy. Sadly, it was the last night to spend with Jennifer, Andy, Jacob and Isaiah on the vacation. We so enjoyed having them with us. Each morning Isaiah would wake up before everyone else and we would nestle him in bed with us; so cuddly and sweet. A special time always to be remembered.
